Meet Dave & Mary
Dave and Mary Gothi, the creators of The Significant Marriage, have dedicated themselves to making a difference in the lives of couples since 1996, through teaching and helping them to enhance, protect and, when needed, restore their marriages. Dave & Mary have mentored couples, led marriage seminars and workshops across the US and overseas, including a workshop for couples in crisis through Marriage Dynamics Institute.
Mary, a Psychotherapist with graduate degrees in counseling and clinical psychology, has been counseling and teaching couples and families since 1978. Because of her own international experience, along with her heart for couples, she has specialized in the care of missionaries and other expatriates overseas with Heartstream Resources. She spent 7 years serving with Young Life in Vienna, Austria, and Eastern Europe, where part of her ministry was counseling people from the missionary, embassy and United Nations communities. Born in India, Dave is a Chemical Engineer, with 35 years of experience in Engineering, Operations and Quality Control. Half of those years also include his experience in marriage restoration, education and enrichment. The same expertise and desire for excellence which he brought to billion-dollar companies, he shares with couples to enrich their marriage.

After moving from the East Coast to California in 2001, they began to consult with Marriage Dynamics Institute for whom they are certified leaders of the Dynamic Marriage course, as well as the “A New Beginning” weekend workshop for couples in crisis. They especially love working with young couples and those from A New Beginning who need encouragement as their marriage heals. In addition to their marriage ministry, Mary is the director of the non-profit they founded in 2004, Sunshine Kids International, which helps the needy children at an orphanage in Mumbai.
They have four grown children and 7 awesome grandchildren, whom they consider their most significant impact in the world. As a family, they are committed to domestic and international adoption. They love good movies and traveling the world, to visit Dave’s family in India and to experience their favorite cities, like Paris and Shanghai. Spending time with their family and friends whenever possible is their favorite part of life. |

When Dave and Mary lead a marriage seminar, they love to share the truth that they couldn’t be more different, from education and experience, to culture and faith backgrounds…and that they have learned to celebrate those differences, rather than allow them to cause conflict. Together they have intentionally created a marriage that gives them great meaning and joy as a couple and, hopefully, makes a significant difference in the world. Their passion now is to challenge other couples to find that same meaning and joy for themselves through choosing to have The Significant Marriage.
